The Penn State Alumni Association

What’s been happening:

After John's January 1953 graduation he married Rogene Fischer who he met during is pre-engineering study at Bowling Green State University in Ohio before his transfer to Penn State. We have one daughter, three sons and seven adult grandchildren and one great granddaughter. Most of our marriage was lived in Toledo and Dayton, Ohio and we were married for more than fifty-five years at the time of Rogene's death on July 7, 2008. John worked for several manufacturing firms as well as a glass melting furnace design engineering-construction firm during his engineering career. Rogene was a licensed geriatric social worker who also taught gerontology students part-time at Sinclair Community College in Dayton. We both retired mid 1995 and then did volunteer tutoring at local elementary schools: Rogene: grades 1 through 3, reading and comprehension; John: grade 4 math. John moved to the Grand Lake St. Mary, Ohio area after Rogene's death, but still remains active in the Dayton Czech-Slovak Club and the southwest Ohio chapter of Ham Radio's Quarter Century Wireless Association. I maintain a physical fitness program and enjoy polka dancing and woodworking.
